Apple TV with YouTube is H.264 not On2′s VP6/7 or Flash
I was having a discussion with someone yesterday and they thought that Apple TV was going to be able to work with any Online Video Service that used Flash and that would be huge, but it turns out that YouTube is converting content to H.264 for use on Apple TV. This should be a higher quality version of the files, and with luck maybe they will use the h.264 files that are already compatible when they are uploaded… But probably not.
Apple TV now with 10x more Crappy quality Video not presented in HD!
The Apple TV with YouTube Press Release Says:
“This is the first time users can easily browse, find and watch YouTube videos right from their living room couch, and it’s really, really fun,†said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “YouTube is a worldwide sensation, and Apple TV is bringing it directly from the Internet onto the widescreen TV in your living room.â€
Unless you have MythTV, a Media Center Edition PC, or use the Wii Browser… Oh and Youtube is 99% 4:3 so widescreen… It aint helping.
