Zune 2 Tuesday
If you like me were under-whelmed with the new iPod's maybe the new Flash based Zunes will be more to your liking. Tomorrow there will be a Redmond event to announce the new players which should be available in stores before the holiday sales start.
Both Bill Gates and J Allard are expected to speak.
Microsoft is also set to announce a new improved version of the Zune Software, which leverages Silverlight in place of the Flash that is used on much of the existing Zune site.
The new Flash based Zune is significantly thinner and comes in 4 and 8 gig sizes. It measures 3-inches by 1.25-inches roughly the same dimensions of an iPod Nano.
The Hard Disk based Zune is slightly thinner than the original and comes in 30 and 60 gig sizes.
Microsoft expects to sell 2.4 million Zune in the first quarter of the hardware revision due to the reduced price of the flash based product, and the ability of Zune to now use WiFi to purchase songs, a feature not included in iPods.
