Sadie Hawkins Day: Marriage fun day

Sadie Hawkins Day is for sure an engaging day. It is mainly observed in Canada and the United States on Saturdays. On this day if a man is pulled back to the starting line by the end of the evening, he has to marry the woman. The rules say so. I find this entire concept extremely interesting. Every year on this day an unmarried girl of Dogpatch tried to pursue a man. The day is named after Sadie Hawkins. Sadie Hawkins was the daughter of the earlier settlers of Dogpatch. As far as I can recall when Sadie Hawkins was at the age of thirty-five and still remained unmarried her father out of desperation thought to do something that would change the fortunes for the entire family. He made the one of the most interesting moves that you have ever heard. He invited all the single men residing in Dogpatch. Her father made a bold statement by presenting his daughter in front of all the men and named the day as after her daughter. Everyone accepted it as one of the brightest idea and decided to mark it as an annual event. People from all the neighboring parts gathered to witness the interesting event. I only wish if I could have joined the celebrations and be a part of it. I am pretty sure you would have loved to join it and be a part of the initial celebrations of Sadie Hawkins day. The unmarried men of Dogpatch saw this as an opportunity.  Since then, till now the Sadie Hawkins Day is observed. It was however, first mentioned in the year 1937. Sadie Hawkins day is been organized by some high schools in Canada. A lot of the US high schools arrange these dances each year on a regular basis. Traditional farmer dresses are worn for this dance. The entire idea of celebration of the Sadie Hawkins Day got very popular throughout. It has been a topic which is been discussed all over the world. Many communities with different cultural backgrounds are coming up to arrange something similar like this. The good thing was that the concept was liked by all age group. I felt this was the best part of the celebration. Obviously the younger generation was most attracted by this concept.
