So I really liked the concept of Eli’s PingCrawl plugin over at BlueHat SEO. But it conflicts with some of my other plugins, and it requires you to tag your posts, which I don’t 90% of the time. SO… Since I had planned to build something similar anyway I was inspired to get off my butt and do it.
So I built mine a little differently, and independent of WordPress. It has some performance issues at the moment, but basically mine creates a cache of related pages using Yahoo’s KeyWord Extraction API, and has a seperate ping tool which will then crawl your pages and do the necessary pings.
I need to tweak the performance because the first version had the nasty habit of doing everything the first time a page was accessed. Well when Google Crawled my server and asked for 500 new pages, it crushed me in a matter of minutes.
But I’m currently accepting beta testers for newer more stable versions of the tool. Which should work on any PHP5 server, will work on static pages, Movable Type, Drupal, Joombla, anything.
With some practice I will tie this tool to my inbound link refresher, and my ever XMLRPC on the planet Submitter, and be ready to do a commercial release of the product.
If you want to be considered e-mail me I’m Brandon at this domain.
