The Economic Downturn and Stripping
The AP is reporting that more women are working as strippers and topless dancers as a result of the economic downturn. Looking out at Craig’s list this doesn’t seem to be the case. There are actually more postings on the SF Craigslist for Male Strippers for hire than Female strippers.
Looking at the "Erotic” services section of Craigslist it would appear that there are more listings than there were a year ago, but a quick run bit of crawler code from my SEO tools reveals that there are fewer unique images posted implying more ads, but also more duplicates.
The second reason I don’t believe this article is that it would mean that women were hurt more by the down turn than men. Supply and demand, it’s unlikely that as an unemployed male I’m going to splurge on strippers. And as an Employed male am I going to take amateur “cheap” strippers instead of the slightly discounted Pros who have had to lower their prices to accommodate the reduced demands on their time caused by so many men being fearful that they will be laid off?

Social Media is alive and thriving while there may not be more strippers people with out jobs have plenty of time to sit around and tweet.
