2010 Pro Bowl

The NFL 2010 Pro Bowl is going to be held in Miami, Florida at the Land Shark Stadium on January 31, 2010.

If you’re a fan of the national football league or just pro sports in general you know that there are a couple weird changes to the sentence above. First being that the 2010 Pro Bowl will be held in the Continental United States (the first time since 1979 matter of fact). Usually when I think of the NFL Pro Bowl I think of the sun and Hawaii where it’s been played for many years.

The second change is that the 2010 Pro Bowl will be played before the 2010 Super Bowl. This is even more of a shocker. I bet lots of people will see the Pro Bowl on television and think the Super Bowl is already over and done with because it almost always follows the NFL Championship game.

Another 2010 Pro Bowl change is that players from the 2 NFL teams in the Super Bowl will not be allowed to play in the PB for obvious concerns of possible injuries. It’s understandable, but kind of sucks. The upside is that there will be lots of room for players on the bubble to get in and play in the football game.

Many believe the changes are good, namely NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. The moves were done after looking at alternatives and in the hopes of strengthening interest. Usually the Pro Bowl has been an after thought, but now that it will be played one week before the 2010 Super Bowl, it’s almost a lock that their will probably be greater interest in the game and probably robust 2010 Pro Bowl ticket sales. I am sure there will be lots of available 2010 Pro Bowl tickets, packages, hotels, etc availabel too since there is a new date and location.

Something not changing for the 2010 Pro Bowl is where you can watch it, and it’s still being shown on ESPN.

If anyone knows when the 2010 Pro Bowl NFC or AFC rosters will be announced, please add it in the comments – thanks!

Check out some videos of past games below. One can only hope that the 2010 NFL Pro Bowl will match some of the excitement.
