Daylight Saving Time 2010

image This year Daylight Saving Time begins on the second Sunday of March 2010 at 2 a.m.  At that time clocks should move ahead (Spring forward) one hour. Daylight Saving Time in the United States lasts for eight months and ends on the first Sunday in November of 2010.  At that time clocks should move back (Fall back) one hour and it will be 1 p.m. again.

When we are not on Daylight Saving Time, there is no "s" on the end of Saving – its Saving and not Daylight Savings Time, the time is called Standard Time.

Daylight Saving Time was first adopted during World War I to conserve resources for the war effort.  This happened again during World War II and continued afterwards for the energy savings and other economies.

The U.S. Time Zones were created by the Railroads in the late 1800’s in order to establish uniform train schedules.  This was called Standard Time.
