Diz not being from the Midwest, or the US, (and possibly not Earth) had never had Green Bean Casserole, and my attempt to describe it came out sounding more like Vegetarian Prix King with out the Chile’s than I had intended, so I made it, and thought I should share the recipe:
According to the Mushroom Soup Can, this is how the Casserole should be made:
1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Campbell’s® Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup
1/2 cup milk (Whole works the best but skim is better for you)
1 teaspoon soy sauce (See My Notes about what I use instead)
Dash ground black pepper
4 cups cooked cut green beans (Thawed Frozen beans work well, canned beans turn to mush, fresh are too much work)
1 1/3 cups French’s® French Fried Onions
- Stir the soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, beans and 2/3 cup onions in a 1 1/2-quart casserole ams app herunterladen.
- Bake at 350°F. for 25 minutes or until the bean mixture is hot and bubbling. Stir the bean mixture. Sprinkle with the remaining onions herunterladen.
- Bake for 5 minutes or until the onions are golden brown.
But I leave out the soy sauce and instead use a 1/2 TSP of Salt, a TSP of Olive Oil, and half of a Beef Bullion cube adobe scanen.
I also sprinkle bacon on the top. Campbell’s Green Bean Casserole Recipe was a staple of holiday and family gatherings growing up. And there are a lot of different ways to present it, typically just putting it in a white Corning dish is the way you’d serve it in the Midwest, but here in California it seems to be served in a glass cake pan with the Onions on the outer edge rather than sprinkled on top schnell musiken.
Diz says it is good, but too heavy. She was glad I was eating vegetables, but disappointed that I had them smothered in Cream.
I cooked mine in a disposable foil pan in a toaster oven, so technically you might be able to do this in a dorm room. It’s a great cheap meal, it warms up well, and the version that comes from SafeWay isn’t anywhere near the same taste serien zum herunterladen. (I think they use canned beans, and some other brand of soup)
