Adam Lambert gets to say he spent part of his Christmas vacation in a Finnish jail cell alongside his boyfriend.
According to reports, Lambert and his Finnish boyfriend, reality star Sauli Koskinen were both arrested for brawling outside a gay bar early Thursday morning.
Authorities were called to DTM (Don’t Tell Mama), a famous gay club in Helsinki at about 4 a.m. Thursday. There they found Adam Lambert and Koskinen having an altercation. Ex-Miss Helsinki Sofia Ruusila, who was out with the couple, told local media she tried to break up the fight and Lambert hit her by mistake.
Apparently Lambert and Koskinen, who is a winner of the Finnish version of Big Brother, started arguing in one of DTM’s private back rooms. The argument escalated and the two were removed from the club. It seems things got even more heated after that and police were called.
The couple were held on suspicion of several assault charges, interrogated and released Thursday afternoon. It isn’t known whether charges have been filed or when Lambert will return to the United States.
Koskinen blogged about the altercation Thursday afternoon, saying “Celebrities are people too and fame is not easy. Love is not always easy either, but it’s forever.”
Adam Lambert arrived in Finland to spend the Christmas holiday with his boyfriend on Dec. 19. His newest single, “Better Than I Know Myself” was released on Tuesday. Lambert was apparently in good spirits early Wednesday, tweeting that the song had hit number two on iTunes in the Middle East. He also tweeted, “Helsinki is a beautiful city full of beautiful people! Thank you!” It’s hard to say how he feels about the city and its people now.
