Casey Anthony Video Hits YouTube

Just when everyone thought their gag reflexes could relax, Casey Anthony is back in the news.
NBC’s Today Show aired a video Thursday which was apparently recorded by Anthony and released on YouTube. The grainy black and white recording shows a very different woman than was last seen in a Florida courtroom, where Casey Anthony was on trial for the murder of her toddler daughter, Kaylee. Anthony, 25, is seen with an apparently blond bob and glasses.
In the 4 ½ minute video, Anthony talks about being hopeful and lonely. “It’s just a little surreal how much things have changed since July and how many things haven’t,” she says. “I’m excited that I’ll be able to Skype and obviously keep a video log, take some pictures and that I have something that I can finally call mine. It has been a long time since I’ve been able to call something mine.”
The last thing Casey Anthony was able to call hers was her 3-year-old daughter Kaylee, who was first reported missing in July 2008 and was discovered murdered five months later. Kaylee had already been missing for a month without her mother filing a report with authorities. It was only when Casey Anthony’s parents became concerned and reported the child’s absence that an investigation began.
Anthony was the lead suspect basically from the beginning of the investigation and was eventually charged with her daughter’s murder. Her six month trial in Florida ended with an acquittal in July 2011. Since then Casey Anthony has kept a low profile, even when she was sentenced to a years’ probation on unrelated fraud charges.
In the recent video, Casey Anthony indicates she’ll remain secluded until at least February. But she seems upbeat. “The good thing is things are starting to look up and things are starting to change in a good way. I just hope they stay- that things stay good, that they only get better,” she says.
She makes no mention of her trial or daughter, though she does mention how much she loves a dog she’s adopted.
Casey Anthony’s defense attorney, J. Cheney Mason, said the video was unauthorized and inappropriate and that his office is investigating how the video came to be leaked to the public. Mason said Casey Anthony made the video because she was “maintaining some notes for her personal use and for future counseling purposes.”
Of course it had nothing to do with any upcoming book deals which have been rumored. The woman who originally posted the video on YouTube said she found it on Facebook and linked the video from there.
