FireWire (1394 ) to USB Adapter as Part Pinnacle Movie Studio In A Box Review

This FireWire (1394 ) to USB Adapter comes as Part Pinnacle Movie Studio In A Box. It works really well for doing DV from Camcorders on Laptops and Desktops that don’t have a FireWire port.

Firewire was designed for streaming digital video to a computer without any need for conversion. DV camcorder video is imported via FireWire while being played from a tape. USB does not have the bandwidth capability of Firewire to stream video from a camcorder.

If yours is a hard disk or flash memory camcorder, connect it to USB and import it from the camera’s disk drive. If it’s a DV camera, Firewire is the type of connection to use.

Assuming that you have a PC or if you have a laptop you’ll want to purchase an adapter that plugs into the expansion port. A laptop takes a 34 connector or 54 connector cardor if you have a desktop you’ll need to puchase a FireWire card and open the box to install it.

Pinnacle Studio 12 does recognize Canon and Sony camcorders via FireWire, BTDT. But some of the other things about version 12 are better in their advertising than in delivery. For example, the title screens look like there were generated on a 1988 model Apple computer.
