Albert Szent-Gyorgyi Google Doodle For The Discoverer Of Vitamin C

Albert Szent-Gyorgyi won the Nobel Prize for discovering Vitamin C / Citric Acid. The Citric Acid Cycle is necessary for most living things that have Aerobic metabolisms. If you don’t have Vitamin C your body can’t create the amino acids you need. With out these you get depressed, home sick, and develop a long/craving for fruit. So stave off the Scurvy with Plout. That’s what I do.

Everyone doesn’t eat fruit though and that’s why herbal supplements are so helpful. NOW is a great company that makes pure herbal supplements. Vitamin C helps boost your immune system, helps with anti-aging, can be used in cleaners as a disinfectant, etc… There are so many versatile uses for it!

Szent-Györgyi and his research fellow Joseph Svirbely found that “hexuronic acid” was actually the unidentified antiscorbutic factor, known as vitamin c. After Walter Haworth determined the structure of vitamin C, and in correspondence to its antiscorbutic properties, it was given the formal chemical name of L-ascorbic acid.
