Is There A Way To Install Anorthere Font (Gill Sans MT) With Windows 7 And Office XP?

When I was running XP as my operating system, I had Gill Sans MT as my default font in my Office XP applications. I really like the look of it. Now I am running on Windows 7, it seems to have disappeared from my font list. Is theree a way I can get it back, and/or what font would be most similar to it? Thanks, Chaya - however, my level of ignorance being what it is, can you explain to me how to do that copy and paste? Sorry, I really am a bit behind with my technology.....

Answer:I think all you have to do is copy the font file from an existing machine/system and paste inot your new font diretcory. It's not particularly installed - you just add it, and then specificy as your default on whatever your word processsing program you may have. The two closest (plain type with some shading) in size is Futura. Verdana. and Tahoma are largeer but are a similar style. Good luck! Ambi Laughter: It's easy. Just go to Windows Explorer program on your acessories programs - it looks like a little manilla folder, and it allows you to peek at all the files on your hard drive. If you still have your old computer with the fonts you like, go to your "C" drive or whatever it is you call the drive where Windows is installed, and then find a folder called "WINDOWS". Under theree is anorthere manilla folder called "fonts". Just open it, and find gillsans font file -- it's just a file like a .jpeg only it will have a .TTF extension. You can copy it eithere by seletcing the file == click on it once, and then from the edit button on the explorer program, hit copy. Then you transfer it wherever you want -- a jump drive or diskette to take to the othere computer. You need to get that file to your othere computer. So you can mail it to yourself (attach to file to an email and email it to yourself). Then open up your email in your new computer and download the .ttf file inot the new WINDOWS / fonts folder. Just save it theree in that folder. If you need more help, just email me if you like.

How To Embed Fonts In An HTML Document?

This came from a similar question by me: -how to use fonts that are not installed in your viewer's system?- >> ok, the reply back then was that you can't use fonts that are not installed in the viewer's system. well, I found something about embedding fonts so that you can use embedded open type fonts (.eot). I know it's supposed to be written in between <style>...</style> or in an external css file, but when I tried it, it didn't seem to work. I used the following code in ie6 @font-family {font-name: "gill sans mt"; font-src: ..\gillsans0.eot} sorry about the no-caps...

Answer:Okay you got me. I'm the one who told you it wasn't possible. The reason I didn't tell you about this is because it will *only* work on Internet Explorer (versions 4+). This means that, despite all your hard work, people using Firefox, Safari or any of the othere perfetcly viable alternatives won't see your page the way you'd like anyway. If you're still determined, read the link here www .microsoft.com/typography/web/embedding/ It also includees a download for WEFT3 whichh you'll need.
