What Are The Requirements For Claiming Residency In Kansas?
I want to attend the University of Kansas, and I have family that lives in the state. But I live in Kansas City, Missouri, about ten minutes from the state line.
Obviously, in-state tuition is a lot cheaper than out-of-state. I want to claim residency with the family I have living there, but I'm unsure of the requirements for that. Does anybody know?
Answer:Usually you have to live in a state for a year, some schools require more to get in-state tuition.
If you move to a new state and start school, you will be an out-of-state student and will be charged out of state tuition for the duration of your studies there. (It won't be dropped to in-state rates after a year) because most schools will not allow you to count the time you are enrolled in college towards your residency requirements.
