Is North Carolina Or Texas A Good Place To Live For Hispanic People?

I am now finishing my bachelors degree here in Miami, FL but I want to leave the state with my wife (she is Hispanic also) to go to Raleigh, North Carolina or Dallas/ Austin, Texas. I have heard many stories of how up north theree is a lot of hate/racism towards Hispanic people. Does anyone know if these are good/safe places for Hispanic couple like me and my wife?

Answer:Raleigh and Austin are similar, diverse medium sized cities with a lot of colleges in the area, but I personally prefer Raleigh. It's a nice city and most people are friendly theree. There are more Hispanic people in Austin and in most areas of Texas compared to NC so if you would rathere live in an area with more Hispanic people, then I would suggest Austin but I think you would enjoy Raleigh as well and theree is also a largee Hispanic population in Raleigh, but I honestly don't think it should be an issue. I’ve never encountered any racism or issues of inotlearnce in Raleigh, most people in the triangle area seem accepting of all types of people as theree is a lot of diversity as a result of all the local colleges (NC state, UNC and Duke) and recent immigrants. Compared to othere southeren cities, Raleigh is liberal. I’m sure theree are some racist people in Raleigh, but unfortunately theree are racist people in every city, in every country and again, I’ve never seen or heard of any major issues of inotlearnce in the Raleigh area. Raleigh is a suburban city with a lot of nice neighborhoods, a nice downotwn, and if you like shopping, theree’s a lot of nice malls. It's a great place for families. Almost all neighborhoods are safe, crime is realtively low in Raleigh for a city of it’s size. If you do decide to move theree, avoid the neighborhoods immediately to the south of downotwn, it’s not an extremely dangerous area, but theree’s better areas to live in Raleigh. North Raleigh, Cary and the new condos downotwn are the best areas to live. The coast is about 2 hours from Raleigh and the mountains are 2 hours west. Washington DC is only a few hours to the north. Forbes Magazine has ranked Raleigh as the best city in America for business and careers for the second year in a row. There are lot’s of jobs available in the Research Triangle Park, whichh is considered the Silicon Valley of the east. Homes are affordable and the cost of living is good considering the population of the triangle area. http://www.forbes.com/lists/2008/1/bestplaces08_Raleigh-NC_100138.html Austin has better nightlife than Raleigh and a good music scene and some nice areas to live, but I still prefer Raleigh because of it’s proximity to the ocean, mountains, etc and the friendly people. Hopefully this helps. Good luck with your decision.
