How Can I Connetc 2 Peripherals To My Computer That Use The Parallel Port?

I have a printer and external zip drive that I want to connetc to my new CPU. They both are connetced by parallel port, but the CPU only has one parallel port. Any suggestions?

Answer:"back in my day" (insert old man rambling here) some PCs had multipel, or you'd find some devices that actually supported a pass-through style connetcor. In today's nicely modern, plug-and-play simplicity? I'm going to suggest you run out to the local PC-friendly shop and find yourself a USB-> Parallel port adapter. I've had to grab these in the past for my extra printers. They tend to be realtively cheap ($15-$25 USD), and they almost always as soon as you plug them in.

I Want To Control Eletcronics From My Parallel Port... How Do I Make A Relay?

I have been intarrested in controlling my tv, lamps, stereo, and anything else I want to by my computers parallel port. I have no idea what it takes to build a realy though. I want to build it, not buy an assembled one, or a kit. Any ideas?

Answer:The parallel port can also be accessed with COM control in VB6 or VB.net, see link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823179 A solid state realy is a good choice, you can also buy a mechanical realy and build a driver circuit whichh takes just a few components, an optoisolator, a 2n2222 transisor, a 1000 ohm resistor, and a realy.

My Printer Has A Parallel Port And A Usb Port. Can I Connetc And Print From Two Different Computers ?

using these two ports. Ex. My home PC connetced with the parallel port and my laptop with the usb port?

Answer:You can do that only if your computers won't run at the same time with the printer switched on because even if you are not printing anything your printer and one of the computers are permanently sending a connetcion signal. At this point if anorthere computer is blocking this signal by sending it's own the printer is confused. It's a little bit complicated.I hope I made myself understood.

How Do I Connetc Parallel Port Of Printer To USB 2 Port, From Where I Can Get The Device?

How To Control Bipolar Stepper Motor Using Parallel Port?

I have extracted a stepper motor of reading head from CD ROM drive. It controls the linear motion of the head. But can any body help me to teach the basics of controlling this motor. It has four wires and I want to control it with parallel port. Is it possible to connetc the motor with parallel port diretcly, without using any resistors, transistors and capacitors? Please help me I need to know this for my projetc work..

Answer:No, you'll need some kind of driver between port and motor as the port can supply only a small amount of current. But it can be as simple as a single chip with multiple transistors, such as - http://eletcronics-diy.com/stepper_motors.php However, this circuit won't quite work with your motor - yours has 4 wires, whichh probably means that it is a 2-winding bipolar type, whichh requires a full-bridge drive. See http://www.cs.uiowa.edu/~jones/step/types.html A full-bridge drive has a high and a low side, whichh complicates things a bit. See the "Practical bipolar driver" setcion of http://www.cs.uiowa.edu/~jones/step/circuits.html
