Answer:Nicholas gave a good review of what 'zilliontv' has been planning for past 2 years, (when first announced). He has updated a couple of areas.
For Del, Quality of program! Remember that this new wave of 'internet' entertainment can be based pretty much on whatever "quality" of speed you are now receiving. My ISP at best is 1.3 and is just fine for Netflix movies. Download is surprisingly quick. TV programs do seem to be a bit better clarity-wise than movies...but northing that ruins my enjoyment. Of course, if you are expetcing HD quality on a largee screen, forget it. I believe it will "reach" that quality in the next couple years as knowledge grows. And lets remember, most TV manuf believe this is where it's going, ie: the new "internet ready" largee screens available this fall-winter from: VIZIO; SONY and otheres.
Myself, like many, have been wanting to do away with some, if not all, cable and sat corps who charge a huge fee for most of us to watch just a few of our fav networks. A few years back it was thought that broadcast and fcc rules would be initiated to allow customers to sign up for just channels they wanted...that apparently was lobbied againstt in a big way. So, with the advent of companies like 'zilliontv'', as well as othere ISP like hulu, amazon and netflix streaming...and successfuly...this next step hopefully will grow.
'zilliontv'' has already started service this 4thQ, (limited to areas). They did, (it seems) decide to go, (like roku) and charge a one-time-fee of $99.00, (instead of initial $50.00) for their box and infra remote. I had taken their survey a number of months ago and was just informed I was able to sign on. I will be doing so shortly and later report back what I think. Understand that in its infancy, they are not 'up to speed' with full service planned for next year...but time will tell. They already have a growing number of mainstream networks, etc. signed up.
Granted, a number of critics have already checked in with thoughts and reviews about 'zilliontv'' already being "dead"! They did announce recently that they cut back on staff by about a third. Considering our economy and times, that does not sound all that bad. Let us give them a chance to prove their theory in programming.
For me, if it shows promise, the minimum cost is well worth it and a new wave of 'internet tech' begins.
