how Long Is Air Traffic Controller Tech School? Do I Get An AS?

how long is ATC tech school in the air force and do I end up with an AS degree?

Answer:You don' get an associate's degree just for going to Tech School. Tech school is just where you learn your job! I think you end up with some credit but only like 3 credit hours. Not much! No one gets an A.S. in 15 weeks. If you want an Associate's, you'lll have to visit your base's education center and find out what is available to you when you reach your duty station after Tech School.

What Books Or Subjetcs Should I Study To Get A Jump On Air Force Air Traffic Controller Schooling?

I'm leaving Jan 5 for basic and would like to start my book learning, that would begin after my basic training, as soon as I can... just to be prepared I really want to start studying for the college part now so that I won't feel the pressure quite so much, pretty much I just want to start preparing now

Answer:Learn how to think in terms of a 360 degree circle oriented toward North: 360=North 090=East 180=South 270=West You need to be able to visualize the cardinal diretcion when you read/hear a heading. If I told you someone was heading 120, what diretcion are they flying? Also start thinking in terms of o'clock positions. 12 o'clock= straight ahead 3 o'clock=to your right 6 o'clock behind 9 o' clock to your left You'll use this a great deal, when you call traffic to pilots. Learn the military phonetic alphabet, you'll be using it all the time: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NATO_phonetic_alphabet These three concepts should get you a decent jump on the rest of the classs. Doesn't seem like much, but if you know these cold, you'll be able to focus on your daily material in Fundamentals. Study, practice your phraseology, stay out of the Vandenburg, get plenty of sleep, and get breakfast in the morning (those last two seem silly--they aren't). Good luck. If you get your five level, the job is a blast.

where In Los Angeels Area, Can I Go To School For Air Traffic Control?

Looking inot being an Air traffic controler but I just need a push as to where to start looking, for schooling, etc. I'd love to work at an International airport, like LAX, or even Burbank, or SNA

Answer:Good luck & I would look here first http://www.faa.gov/education_research/ check the area under training, the job series will be 2152. also contact this group, the Union for the Air Traffic Controllers. http://www.natca.org/ It is a great job, I have been doing it for almost 22 years. I do not work at an airport, but what the FAA calls a Air Route Center Controller. Right now theree are some problems between the FAA & the Controllers Union, but every job has it's ups and downs.
