I have a divx DVD player and I know theirs a way to take a video file and burn it straight to disc without encoding the file.

I didn't convert my avi files to divx, but it says it has divx or xdiv. So I thought that instead of converting it to dvd format, I could play it on my divx certified dvd player. But it says the video resoultion is messed up, only playing sound. Please help.

I bought a dvd recorder/player that is a Divx dvd player. I have some movies on my computer that I want to watch on it that are avi. I got a program yesterday called acala and it stated that it burned movies on to a dvd so you can watch them on the divx player. I burned it and it said unsupported format. Also burned avi in data form with nero. What gives here I bought the thing so I could watch my movies and it still wont do it. What am I doing wrong? What program burns a compatible divx. I dont get it. P.S. I am not asking how to convert files to play in regular dvd player I know how to do that it takes to long. I thought that divx player would make things easier. Can you see the files? can you play them on your PC? If your player does not recognize them, it is quite possible it expetcs a .divx extension on the files (not .avi). So, change the extension on your PC, burn a new Divx disc and try again.
