GOSsIP?

I just started a new job about...a month ago or so. I swear its probably the worst job i've ever had. I hate it, so much. The reason I left my othere job is because my hours were minimal and so was my pay, and I simply cannot afford to live that way. So I start a new job, in a, lets say, "high-end" retailer. I get a decent amount of snobby customers, but, I can usually handle that just fine. My co-workers, however, completely fit the profile of many of the customers: stuck-up-I-have-northing-better-to-do-wit... I could handle this, as well, as long as I was treated fairly and in a professional manner. However, this is NOT the case. My manager and every single one of my coworkers (excluding the two seasonal hires) talks bad about everyone...non.stop. I am good with customers, as I have been in retail for a long time and have never had a complaint. I get all my assigned tasks done by the assigned time. I'm also a nice (cont) person. I've never talked bad about anyone theree or ever treated anyone with any disrespetc, even though I haven't been treated the best, myself. ALL they do is talk about me, and the 2 seasonal hires (im low on the management totem pole). All of us (myself and the seasonals) are nice, helpful, hardworking, NON-gossiping individuals. Yet somehow, we are treated horribly. I want to quit but I hate "job hopping". I would confront them, but I feel like if I did, my job would be that much more uncomfortable. What should I do? Help please!

Answer:jut tell them that you dont talk about people like that and you are a verry good person you should feel good because you dont stoop to their level they are just stupid gossipers

Gossip is like a fired bullet-once you hear the sound, you can't take it back

Evil speech can destroy friendships, break up marriages and ruin businesses. Gossip-negative talk, put-downs, rumors, accusations-not only hurts the person being talked about, it also hurts the person speaking and the person listening. In short, gossip has a negative impact on everyone. Yet, despite these negative consequences, gossip has been around since the beginning of humankind and continues to be a popular but destructive pastime.

Throughout this timely and enjoyable book, you'll learn what the Bible and Jewish wisdom have to say regarding speech and how their teachings relate to our world today. You will also learn via real-life examples how to break the gossip habit and how to teach others to do the same. Gossip will help people develop skills to improve their lives by getting along better with others; mending old hurts and reclaiming lost relationship; keeping good relationships from going bad through hurtful words; and strengthening relationships they already have by speaking in a more encouraging and productive manner.

The purpose of this book is to extinguish the fire of evil speech and help us live in a gossip-free environment. The result? Positive interactions with the people around us, the healing of relationships and a more complete self.

That's Not What I Heard

Restraint and polish have their virtues, but the Gossip's first full-length preaches a powerful sermon on the value of raw, honest emotion and reckless abandon. Part of the power of their message lies in the simplicity of its delivery. Limiting themselves to vocals, guitar, and drums, with absolutely no studio wizardry, first names only in liner notes, and a total running time of less than 25 minutes, this threesome has no tolerance for non-essentials. Guitarist Nathan and drummer Kathy lay down a stripped-down retro sound somewhat reminiscent of the Flat Duo Jets and Bratmobile, providing singer Beth with a perfect pulpit from which to deliver her frank discourses on lesbian love, lust, and leverage. Highlights include opener "Swing Low," the back-to-back "Where the Girls Are" and "Bring It On," and the closer, "Hott Date." While this CD's 14 tracks aren't incredibly diverse, they do pack a wallop, and fans of no-frills garage rock and raw, lo-fi blues should definitely give it a listen. --Steve Halloran
