What's The Difference Between Mpeg4 Video Format And The Main Ipod Video Format?

I have the new Ipod Nano 8gb. I want to put movies on my computer inot the ipod and I have winavi converter. it allows me to convert to mpeg4 as well as Ipod format. whichh one should I convert the videos to? if im not mistaken, both formats are compatible with the Ipod, however I want the one that takes up less space and is faster to convert. However, I don't want to compromise quality too much... Also, whats the differences between the two formats? Thanks!

Answer:Mp4 and ipod format are the same. As for taking up less space without ditching quality I believe h.264 is the best in terms of quality/less size.
