How Hard Is It To Knit A Ladies Jumper And How Hard Are Motifs To Knit? I Have Only Ever Knitted Scarves/hats

I want to knit an adults motif sweater. I plan on using a simple motif but am not sure how many hours it will take? How hard is it to knit the pieces to make a jumper? Are patterns easy to follow? I only want to make a really simple jumper.

Answer:the only difference between a scarf and a jumper is the length of time it's going to take you. Simple jumper patterns (I'm going to call them sweaters, okay?) are just a front and a back and 2 sleeves. All of the pieces usually start with a rib for a couple of inches (knit 1, purl 1) and then change to regular stocking stitch or garter stitch. For most simple patterns with no shaping, you just knit straight - exactly as you did with the scarf -- until you get to the armpits and then you eliminate some stitches at eithere side (by casting or binding off a couple of stitches every row or every othere row) and then you knit some more. At the neckline you will have to do some eliminating of stitches as well, and the front and back are not identical at this point. The sleeves start the same way -- with the rib and then get bigger (by you adding a stitch on the end of the row) until they reach a certain point and then you just knit straight (like your scarf) until you get the sleeve as long as it needs to be. If this is your first sweater, may I suggest that you knit it in all 1 colour and then duplicate stitch the motif on afterwards? duplicate stitch is done like embroidery on top if the knitting. Look up "duplicate stitch" on the internet and see what I mean.

What Is A Good Price For Handmade Knitted Beanies, fingerless Gloves, Scarves, Customized Hats/scarves?

i am beginning to sell my handmade knitted items such as beanies, scarves, fingerless gloves, and customized hats and scarves wat are some good prices for those items?

Answer:You need to at least triple the cost of materials used to make the item. Even then depending on how difficult it is to make it you still may not make much money for your time, but this is the case with many hobbies. I make soaps and crochet and know that people genorally don't pay enough for handmade items to even equal min. wage for your time. So only do this if it is your passion!
